The discovery of human bone remains near Nancy Guthrie's Tucson-area home has taken an unexpected turn, with authorities confirming the find is unrelated to the alleged kidnapping investigation.

The remains were discovered on May 7 by local YouTuber AJ Wysopal, and Tucson police later determined the bones were human, ruling out any connection to Guthrie's disappearance.

University of Arizona anthropologist James T Watson revealed the discovery was far more significant, with investigators finding an entire skeleton rather than a single bone.

The remains are believed to be hundreds of years old, potentially dating back as far as 1,000 years, and are classified as prehistoric.

Evidence points to Native American ancestry, with ceramic artifacts recovered near the burial site helping experts identify the remains.

The remains have since been transferred to the Tohono O'odham Nation.
