A federal ICE agent, Christian Castro, has been arrested in Texas after being charged in the January shooting of a Venezuelan man in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Castro was arrested following a nationwide warrant issued by Hennepin County prosecutors.

According to prosecutors, the January 14 shooting occurred during an ICE operation, where Castro fired his weapon through a duplex door, striking Julio Sosa-Celis in the leg.

Federal charges were initially brought against Sosa-Celis and his cousin, but were later withdrawn after investigations and surveillance footage contradicted initial claims.

Castro faces four felony counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and one misdemeanor count of falsely reporting a crime.

He is currently in Texas, where Texas Governor Greg Abbott will determine whether to extradite him to Minnesota.
