A tech professional from India is contemplating a return to his home country despite being selected in the recent H-1B lottery amid an immigration crackdown in the US.

The tech pro, who wishes to remain anonymous, expressed his feelings of sadness and confusion in a Reddit post, stating that he feels mentally tired and almost burned out after completing his master's degree, OPT, STEM OPT, and now holding an H-1B visa.

His employer, a small startup, has offered him the possibility to continue his job remotely from India, but the tech pro is apprehensive about going back, fearing he may regret missing opportunities in the US or end up in a worse situation.

Several users on Reddit recommended that he try working from India for a month to assess whether he would enjoy that arrangement, while others cautioned him about the risk of becoming stranded in India due to immigration complications.
