Reports claim Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has stepped down as chief negotiator in peace talks with the US, but there's no confirmation from Iran's government or state media.

Citing sources, Iran International and Israel's Channel N12 reported that Ghalibaf was reprimanded for including the nuclear dispute in the talks, while growing interference from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps allegedly triggered his resignation.

Despite media reports, Ghalibaf remains active on social media, issuing statements on Washington's naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.

The peace talks between the US and Iran continue to remain stalled, with the second round of talks scheduled for this weekend but cancelled by the US President, citing "too much travel" and a lack of plan.
