Former Virginia Lt Gov Justin Fairfax has died in a murder-suicide at his home, officials confirmed. Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis described it as a domestic-related dispute surrounding a ‘messy divorce’. The family’s two teenagers were in the house when the incident occurred.
Years before the tragic event, Fairfax faced sexual assault allegations. Two women, Vanessa Tyson and Meredith Watson, publicly accused Fairfax of assault, allegations that derailed his political future despite his repeated denials.
Vanessa Tyson alleged that Fairfax forced her to perform oral sex in a hotel room during the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston. Fairfax denied the accusation, maintaining that the encounter was consensual.
Meredith Watson came forward with a separate allegation, accusing Fairfax of rape during their time as students at Duke University in 2000. She described the incident as a ‘premeditated and aggressive’ attack.
Fairfax again denied the claim, stating: “I have never forced myself on anyone ever.”
