Pakistan has pushed back against media reports claiming its initiative to facilitate talks between the US and Iran had run into obstacles.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi dismissed the reports as 'baseless' and a 'figment of imagination', urging media platforms to exercise due diligence and rely on officially issued statements.

The reports suggested that while some progress had been made, momentum had slowed due to the absence of a clear response from the Iranian side.

Pakistan's mediation bid remains ongoing, with leaders staying in touch with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

The conflict, triggered by joint US-Israel strikes on Iran, has expanded across the Gulf, with energy supply chains taking a significant hit.
