A Pakistani national, Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, has pleaded guilty to plotting a mass shooting at a prominent Jewish center in Brooklyn, New York.

Khan, a 21-year-old Pakistani student living in Canada on a study permit, admitted to planning what he hoped would be the “largest attack on US soil since 9/11,” the US Department of Justice stated.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on August 12, 2026, and had planned to carry out the attack “in support of ISIS,” according to US attorney Jay Clayton for the Southern District of New York.

The plot was uncovered after Khan started posting on social media and communicating with others about his support for ISIS, and he was subsequently arrested in Canada in September 2024.
