A Pakistani commercial oil tanker has been allowed to pass through Iran's side of the Strait of Hormuz, marking a significant development in the region's volatile security situation.

The 'MT Karachi' oil tanker, carrying 109,990 tonnes of crude oil, successfully transited the Iranian-controlled side of the strait after receiving clearance from Iranian authorities.

The tanker had loaded crude oil at Das Island in Abu Dhabi and was provided full protection by a Pakistan Navy vessel during its journey to Karachi.

Pakistan relies heavily on imported oil for its fuel and energy needs, and the successful passage of the oil tanker is seen as a boost to the country's energy transportation capacity.
