Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos is facing a $25 million federal lawsuit filed by Arizona inmate Steven Kenneth Fox, who alleges mistreatment inside the Pima County Jail.

According to court documents, Fox claimed a jail officer publicly accused him of stealing other inmates' login information, phone calls, and visitors, putting him in a position where he 'had to fight for his life in the morning.'

Fox alleged he was later physically attacked and left 'in pain for weeks.'

The lawsuit is part of a set of controversies surrounding Nanos, who has faced mounting scrutiny since The Arizona Republic reported he misrepresented parts of his work history.

Nanos has also faced calls for resignation, with the Pima County Deputy's Organization saying it no longer had confidence in him.

Despite the controversy, Nanos remains at the helm of the investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie.
