The Manhattan District Attorney's Office has launched a probe into allegations of sexual assault against Rep. Eric Swalwell.
A former staff member alleged that Swalwell engaged in sexual relations with her when she was not in a position to give consent.
Swalwell has strongly refuted the claims, stating that he will defend himself with the facts and may take legal action.
The allegations became public just before California's primary election on June 2.
A total of four individuals have reported allegations of misconduct against Swalwell, who is currently campaigning for governor of California.
