US Vice President JD Vance is set to lead high-stakes peace talks with Iran in Pakistan, a move that has left him 'walking on eggshells' due to his antiwar views.
Vance's visit to Islamabad marks the first time an American Vice President has visited the country in 15 years.
The talks aim to hold together a fragile ceasefire, with major differences still unresolved, including Iran's demand for sanctions relief.
Vance, who once promised 'no new wars,' is now in charge of delivering peace, a task that binds him to the outcome of a war he once kept at arm's length.
He will be joined by Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, while the Iranian side will include senior figures such as Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Abbas Araghchi.
The Pakistanis will mediate the talks, which are seen as the most important US-Iran engagement since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
