President Donald Trump announced a two-week ceasefire and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz in Iran, after a series of threats on his Truth Social platform. This move was met with 'TACO' or 'Trump always chickens out' chants on X.

Trump's statement on Truth Social mentioned that he agreed to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for two weeks, subject to the complete and immediate opening of the Strait of Hormuz. He also mentioned that this will be a double-sided ceasefire.

The term 'TACO' was coined by Financial Times columnist Robert Armstrong to define Trump's tendency to make threats, only to reverse his decision later. Trump's announcement was met with flak online, with some people questioning his credibility and calling for Congress to intervene.

Trump said that the US had received a 10-point proposal from Iran, which he called a workable basis for further negotiations. He also mentioned that almost all points of contention have been agreed to between the US and Iran, and the two-week period will allow a deal to be finalized.
