US President Donald Trump has threatened China with a 50% tariff if it is found to be preparing a shipment of weapons to Iran. This comes amid a fragile two-week ceasefire between the two countries.

Trump made the threat in an interview with Fox News, where he also offered to sell crude oil to China, both from the US and from Venezuela.

The US President's comments come after reports emerged that China is preparing to deliver new air defense systems to Iran within the next few weeks.

China has denied the allegations, with a spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Washington saying that the information is 'untrue' and that China has never provided weapons to any party to the conflict.

Trump's threat to China is part of a broader pattern of using tariffs as a tool for geopolitical leverage, despite the US Supreme Court striking down many of his tariffs as bad in law.
