A US Army Staff Sergeant Matthew Blank's wife, Annie Ramos, was detained by immigration authorities just days after their wedding, separating her from her husband within hours.
Annie, a 22-year-old student, was born in Honduras but grew up in the United States and has no criminal record. She was just months away from finishing her biochemistry degree and had already hired a lawyer to start her green card process.
Despite being a US resident since childhood, Annie's deportation order was issued in 2005 when she was less than two years old after her family missed an immigration court hearing.
Her husband, Sergeant Blank, is fighting to bring her home, with the support of his military leaders. He also went to the detention center with her green card papers, but was not allowed to bring them in.
