US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said military operations against Iran would not lead to an 'endless war' and aimed to destroy Tehran's missiles, Navy, and other security infrastructure.
Hegseth described the operation as 'clear, devastating, decisive' with a focus on 'destroying the missile threat' from Iran and eliminating its navy.
He emphasized that the war is not a 'regime change war,' but rather a targeted effort to weaken Iran's military capabilities.
Hegseth also clarified that there are no American troops on the ground in Iran, but left the option open for future deployment.
