The United States and Iran could resume talks as early as this week or next, according to Pakistani and Iranian officials. The next round of negotiations follows the first peace talks, which ended without a breakthrough.

Iranian officials have expressed openness to talks, while Pakistani officials said they reached out to Iran, receiving a 'positive response.' The US has not confirmed any plans.

Days after the initial talks, Pakistani and Iranian officials told Reuters that negotiating teams from the US and Iran could meet in Islamabad later this week. A Reuters source involved in the talks said a proposal had been sent to the US President for the delegations to return to Islamabad to resume discussions.

A senior Iranian source told Reuters that 'no firm date has been set, with the delegations keeping Friday through Sunday open.' Iranian ambassador Mohammad Fathali emphasized that Iran is ready for another round of negotiations with the US, given that there are no 'unlawful demands.'

A Pakistani official revealed that they reached out to Iran, who responded with 'a positive response that they will be open to a second round.' The Pakistani official added that Islamabad is communicating with both sides regarding the timing of the next round of talks.
