The head of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, is heading to the Democratic Republic of Congo to support the country in its battle against a deadly Ebola outbreak.

With 10 confirmed and 223 suspected Ebola deaths, the WHO has warned that the true spread of the outbreak is likely much wider.

Tedros has urged warring factions to stop fighting, saying 'conflict and displacement make everything harder'.

A vaccine for the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola is expected to be ready by the end of 2026, according to the African Union's health agency.

Neighbouring Uganda has shut its border with the DRC, while the US has announced it will not allow anyone with the virus to enter the country.
