1,746 Police Constables Join Punjab Police in Merit-Based Recruitment Drive

In a significant boost to the state's law enforcement, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday distributed appointment letters to 1,746 new police constables at the Punjab Armed Police Ground in Jalandhar. This recruitment drive is part of the state government's efforts to strengthen the police force and tackle pressing issues like drugs, cybercrime, and gangsterism. The Punjab government has made a remarkable 63,027 appointments in less than four years, with an average of 45 youth joining the government every day since March 16, 2022. The fresh induction of 1,746 constables will help the police force combat these challenges more effectively. Chief Minister Mann expressed his confidence in the new recruits, urging them to use their positions to help the needy and underprivileged. He stressed that their duty is to ensure maximum public welfare and benefit every section of society. The Chief Minister highlighted the transparency of the recruitment process, saying that 10,264 youths have been recruited into various ranks of Punjab Police in the last four years. He praised the police force for safeguarding the unity and integrity of the nation and maintaining peace in the border state. Mann also emphasized the need to upgrade the police force with advanced investigation methods, science, and technology to meet emerging challenges. He called upon the police to intensify action against drugs, cybercrime, and gangsters, citing the state government's success in tackling these issues. The Punjab government has launched a second phase of the 'Yudh Nashian Virudh' campaign to combat drug terrorism, and the state is also actively tackling cybercrime. The 'Baz Aankh' anti-drone system has been deployed in rural districts to check cross-border supply of drugs, arms, and explosives. The recruitment drive was attended by Punjab Minister Mohinder Bhagat, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, and other senior Punjab Police officers. The event marked a significant milestone in the state government's efforts to strengthen the police force and ensure public welfare.
