In a heartwarming reunion, 9 men from Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, who were stranded in Kyrgyzstan for three months after falling victim to a job scam, have finally returned home safe and sound. The remaining 3 are expected to return by December 30, as their visas are valid until December 31, 2025. According to officials, the 12 men, who hail from Pilibhit and surrounding areas, were lured by a recruiting agency in Pilibhit city with promises of jobs abroad. Each of them paid ₹2.5 lakh to facilitate their travel and a non-existent job. However, upon reaching Kyrgyzstan, they found themselves trapped in a fraudulent contract and forced to work against their will. The men, who were sent on 59-day visas, were allegedly held hostage and subjected to physical abuse. They took to social media to narrate their ordeal, appealing to the Indian government for help. The authorities, including Union Minister Jitin Prasada and local officials, swung into action to facilitate their return. The returning men expressed gratitude to the government and local leaders for their support. They have demanded strict action against those who cheated them and help in recovering their money. Farmer leader Dev Swaroop Patel met the returning workers in Bareilly and assured them of continued support. The incident serves as a warning for job seekers to be cautious of fraudulent recruiting agencies. The authorities have appealed to everyone to be vigilant against such scams and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
