13 Nations Unite in Meghalaya for Mega Counter-Insurgency Exercise

Umroi, Meghalaya - Armies of 13 countries concluded the maiden multilateral military exercise 'Pragati 2026' in Umroi, focusing on countering insurgency and building mutual trust.

Over 400 soldiers, including 20 women, from Bhutan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and India participated in the two-week exercise.

The exercise included detecting IEDs, climbing down rocky walls, and conducting special heliborne operations.

Brigadier Mayur Shekatkar said the exercise provided a platform for building friendship and camaraderie among participating nations.

The exercise aimed to enhance interoperability, build mutual trust, and create synergy among friendly foreign nations.

Participating nations expressed gratitude to the Indian Army for hosting the exercise, which they said was a valuable exposure to operating alongside different countries.
