28 Lives Lost as Severe Weather Brings Destruction Across India

Twenty-eight people have died in the past 48 hours due to severe weather conditions across Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh.

The worst-hit state was Uttar Pradesh, where 11 deaths were reported across three districts due to heavy rain and thunderstorms.

In Hamirpur district, four labourers and two security guards lost their lives when a bridge under construction collapsed during a storm.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced an ex gratia grant of ₹5 lakh each for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured.

Similar incidents were reported in West Bengal, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh, with seven people killed in each state.

Chief ministers of the affected states have expressed their condolences and announced financial assistance for the families of the deceased.
