An eight-year-old boy, Dikshal, died after being bitten by a cobra at his home in Thiruvananthapuram district, sparking allegations of negligence by hospital staff.
The incident occurred at around 2:30 am when the boy was sleeping with his parents and younger sibling.
He was first admitted to the government taluk hospital and later referred to the Medical College hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, where he died en route.
Local Congress workers protested outside the taluk hospital demanding action against the allegedly negligent staff.
This incident comes just four days after another eight-year-old boy succumbed to a common krait's bite in Thrissur district.
