9 Killed, 15 Injured in Chhattisgarh Power Plant Blast

Nine workers were killed and 15 others injured after a boiler exploded at a power plant in Chhattisgarh’s Sakti district on Tuesday, police said.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the blast occurred in a boiler tube at the Vedanta Limited power plant in Singhitarai village in the afternoon.

Three victims were killed on the spot, while others succumbed to injuries at hospitals. The injured are undergoing treatment at hospitals in neighbouring Raigarh district.

Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the incident was “extremely tragic” and promised a probe and strict action against those found responsible.

Chhattisgarh Congress president Deepak Baij demanded compensation of ₹1 crore each for the families of the deceased and ₹50 lakh each for the injured.
