Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has emphasized the significance of the upcoming Magh Mela 2026, highlighting its importance as a living expression of India's rich Sanatan tradition. The event, which will take place at the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and mythical Saraswati rivers in Prayagraj from January 3 to February 15, is expected to attract millions of devotees from across the country and abroad. Adityanath has prioritized ensuring a safe, clean, and well-managed environment for the devotees, with a focus on preserving the spiritual sanctity of the event. The traditions of 'Kalpavas', ritual bathing, and spiritual practices at the Sangam form the core of India's cultural consciousness, and Adityanath has directed officials to maintain these traditions. The Magh Mela conveys the values of restraint, harmony, and service to society, and Adityanath has instructed officials to ensure that devotees face no inconvenience at any level. To achieve this, the government has implemented several modern initiatives, including app-based bike/taxi services, extensive directional signage, and AI-enabled surveillance and crowd management systems. With 15-25 lakh devotees expected to observe Kalpavas this year, the government is working tirelessly to ensure a seamless experience for all. The event has also seen a significant expansion, with the Mela area increased to 800 hectares and the number of sectors raised from five to seven. The total length of the bathing ghats has been enhanced by nearly 50 per cent compared to the previous Magh Mela. The officials have assured that all arrangements, including 42 parking facilities, nine pontoon bridges, and an upgraded internal road network, are in place to facilitate the smooth conduct of the event. The installation of 450 CCTV cameras and an AI-enabled surveillance system will also enhance security and crowd management. With the Magh Mela 2026 just around the corner, the Uttar Pradesh government is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a memorable experience for the devotees.
