The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has filed a complaint with Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, accusing the DMK government of looting the state of ₹4 lakh crore in 56 months. The party has demanded a time-bound, court-monitored investigation into the alleged corruption. AIADMK leaders, including General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami, met with Governor Ravi and submitted a comprehensive dossier detailing the alleged large-scale corruption, financial mismanagement, and systemic loot committed by the DMK government. The party has urged the Governor to constitute a special investigation commission headed by a retired former Chief Justice of India to conduct a detailed inquiry into the alleged corruption. According to the AIADMK, the DMK government has been corrupt and non-transparent since taking office on May 21, 2021, and has pushed Tamil Nadu into an unprecedented debt trap. The party has alleged that the government has borrowed nearly ₹1 lakh crore every year, increasing the state's debt burden by over ₹4 lakh crore. The AIADMK has accused various government departments of graft, with the Municipal Administration and Drinking Water Supply department allegedly involved in ₹64,000 crore worth of corruption. The party has also raised controversy over a leaked audio tape allegedly featuring former Finance Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan, in which he purportedly alleges corruption in the DMK family. The AIADMK has alleged that the corruption has led to a collapse of governance and law and order in the state, with industrial investors shifting to neighboring states due to policy paralysis and rampant corruption. The DMK has yet to respond to the allegations.
