AIADMK Unveils First List of 23 Tamil Nadu Election Candidates

The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has announced its first list of 23 candidates for the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections. The party's general secretary, Edappadi K Palaniswami, will contest from the Edappadi constituency.

The AIADMK will contest 169 assembly seats, with its allies in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) contesting in 65 constituencies. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will contest from 27 constituencies, the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) from 18, the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) from 11, and the Tamil Manilaa Congress (TMC) from 5.

The party's first list includes several prominent leaders, including K P Munusamy, D Jayakumar, and C V Shanmugam. The AIADMK has also announced a 297-point election manifesto, promising monthly allowances for women, additional ration benefits, and free bus rides for men.

The main electoral contest is expected between the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA) and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the AIADMK with the BJP and PMK as allies.
