Union Home Minister Amit Shah has addressed concerns among tribals about the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), assuring them that exemptions will be carved out for their customs and traditions.

Speaking at the Janjati Sanskritik Samagam, a gathering of tribal members at the Red Fort, Shah said that the UCC will not interfere with the rights of tribals and that a conspiracy is being hatched to project it as a threat to their ways of life.

Shah noted that the UCC has been implemented in two BJP-ruled states, Uttarakhand and Gujarat, but with special provisions to exclude tribals. He urged the participants to spread the message to villages and forests back home, assuring them that there is no need to be afraid of the UCC.

The Union Minister also referred to the government's fight against Naxalism, stating that the issue has been eradicated and that the country is now naxalism-free. He added that the time has come for the development of tribal areas.
