Union Home Minister Amit Shah has made a series of commitments to West Bengal government employees and job seekers at a BJP rally, vowing to implement them within 45 days if the party wins the upcoming assembly polls. Shah stated that Bengal government employees are the only ones in India still under the 6th Pay Commission, while others receive salaries recommended by the 7th Pay Commission. He also promised to fill vacant posts within two months and grant a five-year age relaxation to young job seekers who have exceeded the age limit. Shah targeted Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of prioritizing her nephew Abhishek Banerjee over the state's development. He also criticized the TMC for alleged dynastic politics and corruption. Shah emphasized that the BJP is the only party that does not engage in dynastic politics and will work to drive out corruption and infiltrators. The BJP leader also took aim at TMC's handling of infiltration and law and order issues, stating that Bengal's borders should be secure and women should feel safe. He promised that no Hindu refugee will lose citizenship under a BJP government. Shah's comments came as part of the BJP's Parivartan Yatra, a campaign to drive change in the state. The TMC responded to Shah's allegations, posting graphics showing BJP leaders with familial ties to politics. State general secretary Kunal Ghosh labeled Shah's comments as desperate, given Mamata Banerjee's expected return to power and potential to break the record of CPI(M) leader Jyoti Basu's 23-year tenure as chief minister.
