Andhra Pradesh's South Coast Railway Zone Officially Launches Operations

A new railway zone for Andhra Pradesh, the South Coast Railway zone, has come into operation, with officials formally launching their operations at its new zonal headquarters at Visakhapatnam.

Union minister for civil aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, along with government whip Bendalam Ashok, unveiled the welcome board of South Coast Railway zone at AS Peta railway station on the Andhra-Odisha border region of Ichchapuram mandal.

The new railway zone was carved out of the existing East Coast Railway zone headquartered at Bhubaneshwar and South Central Railway zone based out of Secunderabad in Hyderabad.

The South Coast Railway zone comprises Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur, and Guntakal divisions, with a total length of 463 km railway line.

Union minister Rammohan Naidu expressed happiness over the launch of the South Coast Railway zone, saying it would enable the region to resolve its issues more effectively.
