Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has issued a stern warning against corruption in the state's development projects, particularly in the construction of the Frontier Highway. Preliminary findings suggest that funds allocated for land compensation along the Lada-Sarli stretch of the highway have been misused on a massive scale. Khandu addressed the 14th general conference of the Nyishi Elite Society in Kurung Kumey district, urging community-based organisations to lead a statewide crusade against corruption and promote transparency. He emphasized that taxpayers' money invested in Arunachal's development is a public trust that must be protected. The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of the Frontier Highway as a transformative project for the frontier districts, but expressed concern that alleged irregularities have already set back timelines. He appealed to the Nyishi Elite Society and other community-based organisations to spearhead a strong movement against corruption and money culture. Khandu also emphasized the need to intensify campaigns against electoral malpractices ahead of the upcoming panchayat and municipal polls. He praised the Nyishi Elite Society for its work in education, youth empowerment, cultural preservation, and social reforms, and sought their support in improving education standards and combating drug abuse. The Chief Minister also touched upon the issue of illegal immigrants, stating that reviews at the government level have exposed gaps in the existing Inner Line Permit regime. He announced plans to digitize the ILP system, plug loopholes, and make employers responsible for migrant labor. Khandu further urged community-based organisations to promote dignity of labor and prevent the inflow of migrant workers, which he said could affect the state's demographic balance. He stressed that the government will take strict action against those found guilty of corruption and ensure that taxpayers' money is used for the benefit of the people.
