Assam Teacher Arrested for Alleged Molestation of 11-Year-Old Student

In a shocking incident, a 39-year-old government school teacher in Assam's Cachar district has been arrested for allegedly molesting an 11-year-old girl at school. The incident reportedly occurred a few days ago, and the family lodged a complaint with the police on Wednesday. According to the police, the teacher, a resident of Kaptanpur area, was immediately arrested and booked under section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. The girl's statement has been recorded, and further investigations are underway. The school authorities have also launched an inquiry into the matter, and the education department is expected to take departmental action soon. The accused teacher allegedly tried to molest the girl and touched her inappropriately, which is considered a serious offense under the POCSO Act. In a separate incident in Silchar, a 24-year-old man was arrested for allegedly blackmailing and repeatedly raping a married woman. The accused allegedly entered the woman's house, raped her, and took objectionable pictures and videos, which he used to blackmail her. The woman eventually decided to fight back and informed the police, leading to the accused's arrest on November 15. He was later sent to judicial custody by the court.
