A 21-year-old unemployed woman from Bengaluru has fallen victim to a ₹2 lakh online scam. The accused, who claimed to be an astrologer, promised to help resolve her marriage issues by revealing details about her horoscope. He convinced her to transfer money online through digital apps, but disappeared when she questioned him. The Adugodi police have registered a case and are currently investigating the matter. In a separate incident, a Bengaluru-based software professional was allegedly cheated of nearly ₹2 crore through a 'digital arrest' scam. The scam involved the victim being convinced to sell her flat and two residential plots to meet the demands of the fraudsters. The woman, who works with a software company, was living with her 10-year-old son when the incident occurred in June. The scam started with a phone call from a man posing as a courier official, claiming that a suspicious parcel linked to her Aadhaar card had been seized. The police are urging citizens to be cautious of such scams and report any suspicious activity. The Bengaluru police have launched an investigation into both cases and are working to bring the perpetrators to justice.
