Union Home Minister Amit Shah said in Gujarat that the infiltration situation in West Bengal has changed since the BJP-led government took office, with 5,000 to 10,000 people now leaving the state daily.
Addressing a gathering in Ahmedabad, Shah said the impact of the political change in West Bengal was already visible, with the same number of people who earlier entered the state daily now leaving.
Shah also highlighted the government's efforts to address internal security issues, including terrorism and Naxalism, and announced the constitution of the Demographic Change Commission to study population changes and explore legal remedies.
He hit out at the opposition over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise and praised the people of West Bengal for showing their support for it in the recent elections.
Shah also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 84 projects worth ₹340 crore across various sectors in Gandhinagar.
