In a surprising turn of events, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Sunil Kumar Pintu has emerged victorious in the Sitamarhi assembly constituency of Bihar, despite being embroiled in a controversy over alleged 'obscene' videos that surfaced online days before the polls. Pintu, who also served as a member of the 17th Lok Sabha from Janata Dal (United), had filed an FIR with the cyber cell, claiming the videos were fake and part of a conspiracy by his opponents to tarnish his reputation. According to reports, the videos, which were shared on social media, showed a man engaging in explicit acts with a woman, and another video showed a person engaging in an improper act over a video call. However, it could not be independently verified if the videos were authentic. Despite the controversy, Pintu secured 103,952 votes, surpassing RJD candidate Sunil Kumar's 98,243 votes in the second phase of Bihar assembly polls on November 11. Pintu's win marks a significant victory for the BJP in the Sitamarhi constituency, which has been a crucial seat in the state's politics. It's worth noting that this is not the first time Pintu has faced such a controversy, as similar videos had surfaced in 2023 as well. Pintu's victory highlights the complexities of Bihar's politics, where candidates often face personal scandals and controversies, yet manage to emerge victorious.
