Union Minister Giriraj Singh has sparked a heated controversy by accusing West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of supporting Bangladeshi infiltrators in the country. Singh's remarks came in the wake of recent violence against minorities in Bangladesh, including the killing of two Hindu men. The BJP leader claimed that Banerjee's actions are aimed at turning Bengal into a haven for Bangladeshis, citing the employment of alleged infiltrators as evidence. He demanded a probe into the matter, stating that Banerjee 'wants to be the CM of Bangladeshis.' The BJP has also raised questions about the Trinamool Congress's (TMC) stance on illegal immigrants in the region. BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli asked the TMC to reveal its plans to remove Bangladeshis and Rohingyas from West Bengal. The controversy has sparked widespread protests in West Bengal and Assam, with demonstrators demanding accountability from the Bangladeshi government. India has expressed its concerns over the repeated incidents of violence against religious minorities in Bangladesh, including Hindus, Christians, and Buddhists. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has condemned the recent killing of a Hindu youth in Mymensingh and called for the perpetrators to be brought to justice. The MEA has also highlighted the alarming rate of violence against minorities in Bangladesh, citing over 2,900 incidents during the tenure of the country's interim government. These incidents include killings, arson, and land grabbing, and the MEA has urged the Bangladeshi government to take immediate action to protect minority communities.
