Tensions in West Bengal persist following the announcement of election results, with the Trinamool Congress (TMC) accusing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters of 'bulldozer action' in the state.
A video shared by the TMC on social media appears to show BJP workers and supporters vandalizing the New Market area in Kolkata with a bulldozer, destroying shops and the TMC party office.
The TMC claimed that the Central Forces have been instructed to 'stand down and let it happen,' allowing BJP supporters to wreak havoc on the streets.
TMC leader Mahua Moitra described the violence as 'lumpen violence' and 'hooliganism,' warning that it could escalate to target the homes of the poor and vulnerable.
The BJP won a historic mandate in the West Bengal assembly polls, securing 207 seats, while the TMC managed only 80 seats.
