The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a landslide victory in Gujarat's local body elections, winning all 15 municipal corporations and over 6,472 of the 9,900 seats.
The BJP's victory is its biggest win in Gujarat's local body polls, surpassing its previous record in 2021 when it won all 6 corporations and 6,236 of 8,470 seats.
Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi hailed the victory as the BJP's 'biggest-ever victory' in local body elections, attributing it to the party's grassroots workers and the state's development agenda.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the people of Gujarat on their 'sweeping mandate', assuring them that the BJP will work even harder to take Gujarat to newer heights of progress.
The elections, held on April 26, saw a voter turnout of 55.1% in municipal corporations, 65.53% in municipalities, 66.64% in district panchayats, and 67.26% in taluka panchayats.
