The upcoming Budget session of Parliament is expected to begin on January 28, with President Droupadi Murmu addressing a joint sitting of the two Houses on that day. According to the tentative schedule finalized by the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, the President's address will mark the start of the new session. The first working day of the session will be January 30, when the Economic Survey is likely to be tabled. The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha will not meet on January 29 due to the Beating Retreat ceremony, and January 31 will be a day off for both Houses. The Union Budget is set to be presented on February 1, a Sunday, and will be followed by discussions on the Motion of Thanks on the President's address. The session will then adjourn for a near month-long recess on February 13, with Parliament reconvening on March 9 and concluding on April 2. The recess allows department-related standing committees to examine the demands for grants of various Union ministries and departments. This break will also provide lawmakers with a chance to review and deliberate on the budget proposals before the session concludes on April 2.
