CJI Surya Kant Hits the Badminton Court with Union Ministers, Advocates Recreation for Judges

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant recently joined Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju and Arjun Ram Meghwal for a friendly badminton match at the All India Judges Badminton Championship in Delhi. The event, aimed at promoting recreation among judges, saw over 75 High Court judges participate, highlighting their commitment to health and well-being. According to CJI Surya Kant, judges often work long hours under stressful conditions, making it essential for them to engage in recreational activities. He emphasized that all judges should make it a habit to participate in activities that suit their age, citing the benefits of recreation in recharging their mental and physical well-being. The two-day badminton tournament, held at the Thyagraj Sports Complex in New Delhi, was organized by a former international badminton player. Union Minister Rijiju expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating that the Supreme Court would organize more sports events in the future. Meghwal commended the initiative, highlighting the positive message sent by the judges' participation in promoting fitness. The event has been given the green light by the Ministry of Law and Justice, with former CJI BR Gavai's nod. The closing ceremony, to be presided over by former CJI B R Gavai and Justice Vikram Nath, will take place on Sunday.
