Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has dismissed rumors of a power struggle within the Congress government in Karnataka, stating that the focus is on governance.
The speculation arose after a meeting of senior Congress leaders, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, and a gathering of ministers close to the Chief Minister in Bengaluru.
Shivakumar insisted that the discussions were related to strengthening the party and bringing it back to power, and not about replacing Siddaramaiah as Chief Minister.
The Congress leadership question has persisted since the party formed the government in May 2023, with rumors of a rotational arrangement for the Chief Minister's post surfacing repeatedly.
