The Congress party has decided to go solo in the upcoming West Bengal assembly elections, marking a significant shift from its long-standing alliances with the Trinamool Congress and the Left parties.
The decision comes after a string of disappointing performances in the past elections, including a record-low of zero seats in the 2021 assembly polls.
The party's vote share has also plummeted to 3% in the 2021 polls, down from 12.4% in 2016 and 4.7% in 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Despite the growing popularity of the BJP, which won 77 seats in 2021, the Congress hopes to revive its lost grounds and secure a third spot in the upcoming election.
