Tagore made the incendiary comment while reacting to Digvijaya's remark, claiming that the RSS is built on hatred and spreads it. He questioned whether one can learn anything from an organisation that promotes hatred, drawing a parallel with Al-Qaeda. The BJP has vehemently attacked Tagore's statement, calling it a desperate attempt to gain votes. "Congress has lost its way in its pursuit of vote-bank politics," said BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla.
