Karnataka governor Thaawarchand Gehlot accepted Siddaramaiah's resignation, dissolving the council of ministers ahead of the transition.

Siddaramaiah's resignation ends months of uncertainty over the Congress leadership transition in the state.

Shivakumar is expected to be elected as the leader at the Congress Legislature Party meeting.
