Congress leader KC Venugopal has submitted a privilege notice against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for 'casting aspersions' on MPs during his address to the nation.

The notice was submitted to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, citing Rule 222 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Lok Sabha.

Venugopal alleged that PM Modi's 29-minute speech was a personal assault on elected representatives and a direct affront to the authority of Parliament and democratic rights of the people.

The Congress leader urged the Speaker to take immediate action to uphold the sanctity of Parliament and protect its members from such violations.

The move comes after PM Modi addressed the nation on April 18, following the defeat of the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, 2026, in the Lok Sabha on April 17.
