A man allegedly stabbed his wife and mother-in-law to death and seriously injured his father-in-law in a domestic dispute in Ballia, UP.
The incident occurred in the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday when Amit Kumar Gupta, 30, slit the throats of his wife Preeti Gupta (23) and mother-in-law Sushila Devi (55) with a knife.
His father-in-law Antu Gupta (60) was critically injured when he tried to intervene. Amit also attempted to strangulate his sister-in-law before fleeing the scene.
Police have formed three teams to arrest Amit, who had been married to Preeti for five years. The couple had been living apart for a month.
A case of murder has been registered based on a complaint filed by a family member.
