Delhi Braces for Rain and Chilly Weather as Temperature Plummets to 4.6°C

Delhi is expected to experience intermittent light rain on Friday, with temperatures plummeting to 4.6°C, a 2.3 degree drop below the normal minimum temperature. This marks the lowest minimum temperature recorded in the city for the month in two years. The air quality has also deteriorated to the 'very poor' category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 325 at 8am on Friday. The city's airports were affected by the fog, with at least 140 flights delayed. According to the Air Quality Early Warning System, the AQI is expected to improve over the weekend and remain in the 'poor' category for the next week. A yellow alert remains in place for moderate to dense fog in parts of the city. Residents can expect light rain or drizzle in areas such as Mundaka, Paschim Vihar, Rajouri Garden, and others. Local weather stations recorded trace amounts of rain in Safdarjung and Lodhi Road, while Ayanagar received 0.8 mm of rain between Thursday and Friday morning. Temperatures are expected to rise to 16-18°C on Friday, but may drop further over the weekend, with a forecasted range of 5-7°C on Saturday.
