A Delhi court has rejected the interim bail plea of Vinesh Chandel, co-founder of Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC), in a money laundering case.

Chandel sought bail citing his 74-year-old mother's deteriorating health, but the court ruled that the request did not meet the threshold for exceptional humanitarian grounds.

The court observed that no evidence was presented to show that the mother's medical needs could not be managed through hospitalisation or assistance from other family members.

I-PAC is alleged to have laundered proceeds of crime amounting to crores of rupees, with ₹50 crore identified so far.

Chandel was arrested in April, shortly before the West Bengal elections, and the ED's investigation originates from a CBI probe into illegal mining and sale of coal from Eastern Coalfields Ltd areas.
