Delhi High Court judge Swarana Kanta Sharma has decided to appoint three senior lawyers as amicus curiae to represent former CM Arvind Kejriwal, former deputy CM Manish Sisodia, and AAP leader Durgesh Pathak in the Central Bureau of Investigation's (CBI) appeal against their discharge in the excise policy case.

The decision comes after Kejriwal, Sisodia, and Pathak decided to boycott the proceedings, citing their well-grounded apprehensions about the judge's impartiality.

An amicus curiae is a lawyer or expert appointed by a court to assist it in a case, and in this instance, the court will appoint three senior advocates to aid in the case.

The court will commence hearing the CBI's arguments on merits after appointing the amicus on Friday.
