A 22-year-old IIT graduate and civil services aspirant was found dead in her highly secured South Delhi house after being raped and strangled with a mobile charging cable.
The accused, a 23-year-old former house help, had been dismissed from duty two months ago and allegedly committed the crime to avenge his removal.
Investigation revealed that the accused had knowledge of a hidden smart card that the victim's parents used to leave for their house helps to enter the house.
The accused was seen on CCTV footage entering and leaving the house, and police believe he spent around 40 minutes inside, during which he committed the crime.
The police are yet to ascertain the motive behind the crime, but it is suspected to be linked to the accused's grudge over being released from duty.
