The Delhi government has formed rapid response teams to oversee the sale and sacrifice of animals during Eid-al-Adha, ensuring compliance with animal welfare rules.
The teams, formed under the Animal Husbandry Unit, carried out inspections in several areas and markets across Delhi, taking immediate action in case of violations.
Development Minister Kapil Mishra assured strict compliance with animal welfare laws during the festival on May 28, stating that no illegal sacrifice would be permitted and sale and purchase of animals at public places is prohibited.
The sacrifice of cows, calves, camels, and other prohibited animals is completely banned in the city, and residents are urged to cooperate with authorities in enforcing the rules.
The teams have been sensitising livestock owners, traders, and transporters about guidelines related to transportation, care, and management of animals, and the general public has been advised to report any violations to the nearest police station or PCR.
